Are you fully medicated after 15 years, and what replacement are you taking ?

    Hey there!

I'm Shonagh - i'm a newbie!! Just trying to read up all I can and perhaps one day i'll be in the position to help others!

I have not yet been diagnosed - still waiting on my results but I have a lump in my thyroid. I noticed a swollen lymph node and it has taken 8 months so far and the scan last week showed this lump in my thyroid. After 3 fine needle aspirations - I am awaiting the results of the last 1 - hopefully will get them today. At 24 - this has been a catastrophic blow - when they were testing the swollen lymph - I enquired as to whether it could be my thyroid as family members have problems and I seem to have all the classic symptoms of a thyroid issue. I was almost laughed out the door - saying my lymph node was further right than my thyroid and my thyroid was in the middle blah blah blah - and my 2 stone weight gain is down to comfort eating - (gym everyday and a very healthy diet - comfort eating has not happening! I only wish I had spent the past 8 months eating chocolate - yum!) Anyhow - the lump in my thyroid has been found but still there seems to be no urgency - I have not yet been referred to the thyroid clinic - still being seen by the ENT surgeon who has said he does not deal with thyroids - but he said he'll probably refer me to the thyroid clinic tomorrow at our consultation.

I think I'm going insane - noones listening! - i'm SO irritable - only my best friend and my family have stuck by me - the doctors do not seem to care - they talk amongst themselves but don't tell me.

Has anyone had similar symptoms to this and if so - what has the outcome been? I know that cancer is a possibility - and most likely - papillary but I am so much in the dark and would really appreciate any similar stories!

    Shonagh xxx
