    Angry Breast Cancer Risk Factors

The incidence of breast cancer is roughly 1 in 10 in general population. There are certain risk factors for developing breast cancer, and every female should know about them in order to have a fair idea of how this disease takes place. The risk factors for breast cancer in females are:

    1. Personal history of breast cancer (biggest risk factor)
    2. Family history in first-degree relatives
    3. Age (breast cancer is rare before age 30; the incidence rises with increasing age). Greatest risk is in women older than 70 years.
    4. Early onset of menstruation, late menopause, and late first trimester pregnancy or nulliparity (having no children)
    5. Atypical hyperplasia or growth of breast tissue.
    6. Radiation exposure (X-rays etc.) before age 30.
    7. Excessive hormonal levels in blood e.g. by use of birth control pills for very long time.

    Re: Breast Cancer Risk Factors

I heard on NPR that women can have their DNA analyzed to find out if they have the "cancer gene." Apparently, if this gene is present, a woman has a 85% chance of developing breast cancer and a 50% chance of developing ovarian cancer. Many women opt for preemptive removable of their breast.

That is a very good info. I've an aunt, sister of my father [so close relative!], that got one of her breasts removed because malignant tumors are found in it. I do pray that my family won't get those hormones, but the new way of getting it detected by blood is a definite help.

Way back 35 years the technology, DNA tests etc. were not so advanced as they are today. My mother in died of breast cancer. But now a days the survival rate is too high...

to the medical practices and continues experimentation.

I think that is a terrible thing, it doesn't mean you won't get some other deadly disease or that cancer won't strike somewhere else, blimey, they don't know for sure.

    lotsa luv
