    Thyroid replacement?

Is it possible to replace the thyroid gland as one would have a liver or kidney replacement?

I have never heard about that before. I think there are just some things that cannot be replaced and you have to learn to get along without it, they thyroid glands are one of these.

Very good question but not sure about the answer. I dont think it is possible as thyroid glands could be smaller or bigger depending on individual's body and it works on a feedback mechanism.

Again, who knows in the future that would be possible as well

Maybe that will be possible one day when medical technology improves. The biggest problem in 'replacement body parts' is getting the body to accept them.

It's already bad enough to try and treat autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto's, I wonder what it would be like if doctors had to try and suppress rejection of a thyroid gland.

Scientists will make it possible one day. You will have to wait a few more years. I kinda remember reading about thyroid transplant done on a pig some where. I am not sure whether it was a success or not.
