Do thyroid problems tend to affect men more than women or vice versa?

    Re: Gender

From what I know, and I don't know a lot, it is more of a genetic thing rather than gender, but again, I'm no expert.

    Re: Gender

I know about the heritage of it, but I asked about gender because I tend to see a lot more women talking about this than men or perhaps mostly women are aware of it.

    Re: Gender

Men do tend to ignore themselves more I guess, but I think I have observed more women bringing up the issue. I wonder if any statistics have ever been kept on this?

You'll be surprised how many men are actually self conscious and may get involved with a doctor to see if their pot belly is based on a thyroid problem.

Susan, yes I know men are like that, I was merely saying that men tend to ignore the hurt more I guess. I think men are less likely to go to a doctor about a problem.

    Re: Gender

I know men that do not ignore hurt too. I guess I do not believe things like this can be gender specific. There are only certain things that actually make us gender specific and they have certain names attached to them.
