    Hypothyroidism: Scary

Hypothyroidism is one of the reasons I'm often scared about getting any kind of results about my thyroid glads. If I were to find out that I would need them removed I fear more complications in the future.

In Hypothyroidism, you don't remove your thyroid gland as it's already under functioning but you support it via different medicines or take extra hormones to bring your metabolism up to speed.

It's better to get tested and start treatment as soon as possible or else there are other complication which arise when one is being hypo for a long time

Well that is good to know, but then one has to ask the major question - what are the side effects of those meds?

gee..the problems that may arise if we don't get it treated right away are really so scary.. just the thought of it could send one to bouts of depression. but it's advisable to check with docs if getting the symptoms so they could give you timely treatments and advise. getting help is better that not at all, i guess.

Just being symptomatic does not guarantee treatment, even if you do have TD you still need to defy the reference ranges that are applied to the UK blood testing that very often declare the sufferer fit & well & not in need of any treatments.

Wilber, you trying to tell me that the side effects of the meds are negligible as compared to what would happen if you did not take them?
