How to wean yourself off thyroid meds?

I do believe I don't need thyroid meds anymore and my blood tests have confirmed this, however without good advice I'm having an awful hard time trying to wean myself off thyroid meds - every time I do this ie not take it for one day - I feel great during the day but have great night time anxiety issues / insomnia.

Any advice, I'm going back to my GP for some help today but not sure if she can give good advice?

I did not know you could be taken off your thyroid meds. Does the doctor definitely think you need to be?

I’ve had problems ever since i started taking thyroid medication... my story begins in the doc's office when the PA noticed my goiter, did the blood work, diagnosed me with hashimoto, sent me to an endo, he prescribed levothyroxine.. felt good for awhile but i started losing too much weight so after playing with the dose switched me to synthroid.. Which REALLY didn't agree with me (hair falling out, fast heart beat, etc)... so then i switched to armour.. Also NOT agreeing with me.. i feel like I’m going crazy almost... I JUST WANT TO GO BACK TO HOW I FELT BEFORE THE MEDICATION.. so my question is, is there anyway i can WEAN OFF the medication altogether????

i was also feeling good without meds even my tsh was high and unfortunately i listen my endo and ended up in hiper and now 16 months i can't walk

so, what is your current TSH level? i guess you can't just stop taking meds or?what is your dosage?

i was taking 12,5 mg of Eutyrox and it was too much for me.

Well I did wean off thyroid meds with difficulty. But I would only recommend it if you really don't need thyroid meds anymore. That is your blood tests show it and by taking meds you feel worse. I'm fine now but have to go and have blood tests done very six months or so since in the past I had hashis. It's possible to get better from thyroid problems if you stick to a good diet, exercise and take your vitamins. But you have to be strict with yourself.
