Recently started on Thyroxine - Feeling aggressive and furious

Been on 50mg of Thyroxine for 2 and half weeks now
I understand I'm on a low dosage, but is it normal to feel furious and aggressive all the time?
My joints are aching, I'm tired, I'm angry all the time, I'm just not enjoying life
I'm due to see Doctor next Monday to discuss my dosage etc

I'm just really scared as I'm worried how I feel

    Hello @Waynester and welcome

What are the reasons to start on thyroxine? I am sure it's hypothyroidism but how was it identified? Did you start straight on 50mcg as initially it makes you slightly agitated perhaps furious as well? As all your hormones try to kick in, that might be the reason. It should settle down in a few weeks time and you should start feeling a lot better.

Are you taking any particular brand of thyroxine tablets or these are generic?

My TSH level before starting 50mcg of Thyroxine was 5.65 mU/L
    my T4 level was 11.80 pmol/L

I'm going to ask for 100mcg next Monday, i don't feel different since starting these meds
Doctor says my Thyroid is underactive

@Waynester 5.6 is quite high number to be honest. You wont feel better unless you are less than 2 or in some cases less than 1mU/L.

Not sure if your GP is going to raise the dose but dont back off. Good luck for Monday.

Your T4 levels are low too @Waynester . Better get extra thyroxine for better results.

    Hey Mike

when I see my Doctor, if I ask her for more Thyroxine, what do you think i should up it to?
if I tell her I've been reading Internet forums, she may say stop it! lol
when I get another blood test, which should be about now, should I ask for any other tests?
I'm only on 50mcg, maybe go to 100 or 150?

I'm suffering from severe lower back pain still, I'm snapping at everybody and I just feel so damn angry
My girlfriends about to leave me if I keep on like this, wish i could just feel better

What should my hormone levels be for each category anyway?

@Waynester here's the range for hormon levels
    http://www.thyroidhelp.org/forums/sh...ence-Ranges-UK

i would recomend you this, go to your dr and see what she tells you. if she say : still take 50mcg than tell her that shouldn't you be better of with higher dosage? tell her that you met few people who feels better with higher dosage.
me for example, i feel great when tsh is over 5! some people feel better when Tsh is under 2.
it takes time to see what is your number, i took me 1 and a half year.

good luck and tell us what happens
