Hi everyone. I'm 6 days post total thyroidectomy. The surgery went well and I came home on Thursday. The only problem is my calcium levels are low. I'm taking Adcal-D3, 3 tablets a day. I just spoke to the Dr about my bloods taken on Friday and he says my calcium levels are coming up slowing and to continue taking the tablets. I had more blood taken this morning but he doesn't have the results of that yet. At this stage it looks like it is probably caused by damage or removal of the parathyroid glands. I'm gutted and really worried that this will be permanent which obviously it will be if the parathyroid has been removed.
I wonder if anyone else here has had low calcium post op which wasn't permanent?
