Weight loss & HYPO - anyone else?

My blood tests show I have low thyroid, but my weight loss was the reason I went to see the GP. Does anyone else have the same experience? I do feel better taking the thyrxoine, but I'm confused about the overall picture. Should I insist on seeing a specialist?
I am on 75 mcg thyroxine, just up 25 from a few months ago.

Also tired of course, as we all are...and DEPRESSED!
I am the definition of adrenally fatigued.
I also have endo diagnosed about 6 years ago.

Anyone any ideas? I feel a bit lost!

Hi @sarah10 . I've recently been diagnosed as hypothyroid, and like you had gone to the doctors because I was losing weight. I've just been upgraded to 75 mcg thyroxine, up from 50 which I'd been taking for 1 month. I've spent hours on the internet, looking for anything on hypothyroid and weight loss, but your post is the first mention that I've found. I've just had a scan, and the results were normal. My doctor is away, but his locum told me that weight loss is a rare but documented result of this condition. I go back to see my doctor in a couple of weeks, and if I can find anything further out I'll let you know.

Hi @Maggie I have actually lost quite a bit of weight and muscles as well. Not sure what's causing this but unexplained weight loss is adrenal fatigue according to Dr. Barry Peatfield's book so I have put the blame to adrenals and hoping it recovers once adrenals are recovered.

To my knowledge weight loss is unusual but everybody is different. The weight gain that often arises from hypothyroidism is not necessarily fat gain but fluid in the tissues. I guess if your appetite is bad and you do not for what ever reason, leak fluid into your tissues then I suppose you may well loose weight. I used to eat like an anorexic mouse LOL but I still looked plump. Did anyone confirm the adrenals idea?

Weight loss in hypothyroidism is very rare. Generally due to the hypothyridism weight increases as the fats do not get utilized. But if it is so then you should consult a good endocrynologists. First go for the through checkup of the thyroid level in your blood. For maintaining the level of thyroid in your blood you can go for thyromine but under the supervision of experts. For more details check out thyromine reviews.
