    Thyroid Papillary Cancer

    Hi there -

Just been told I have papillary thyroid cancer - looking at having total thyroidectomy and node dissection - really scared and worried. Has anyone else had this? Will it be ok?

Not surte what it is but better to get it sorted. Hope you are ok. When it comes to cancer- just have the treatment to be rid of it, is my opinion x

Hi, sorry to hear your bad news. It might not be a great deal of comfort to you but if you are going to get cancer this is the one to get. the survival rate is around 95%.I had the same thing 25 years ago and at that time the procedure was to just take out the thyroid and hope that there had been no spread to nearby nodes and glands. in my case the cancer had spread and 10 years later I needed more surgery to take out all the nodes and glands in my neck. The operation to remove the nodes ect.is being done at the same time as removing your thyroid so you should be fine.Good luck jolie

2010 years we operated a papillary carcinoma. I have a good drink and euthyrox. I passed two radioactive iodine therapy. I was afraid of everything, I'm afraid of metastasis and recurrence, for now everything is fine.

    Hi @Datesha201 ,
I had pap cancer back in 2010. Its the most stable type of cancer, so your on the right track for full recovery. I found out about metastasis later after diagnosis, it worried me terribly, but this type tend not to metastasise very well at all.
I had a hemi-thyroidectomy, then completion then radio therapy all in the one year. All good now, just trying to get my meds right
