    raspy voice

Well, I now have 2 appointments re: my voice - one is an untrasound - with a consultant who specialises in thyyroid and related stuff. In August. Another - a camera jobby down the throat ( ) in Sept at the local hospital which is a massive teaching hospital. To give 'em their due - the application to a local clinic has been read and they have decided that I need to see consultants at/from a decent hospital becos of my condition. An interesting and long drawn out summer - I have had three orifices now viewed /cut into becos of the thyroid cxxp.
In a post somewhere else we speak about docs seeming to think that we want attention. WHAT?
I wish I couild wind back the clock - apart from haviong my gorgeous granddaughter, of course. I wanna keep away from docs - apart from those in my own family - as much as poss!!!
All take care and hope you feel well. anni

    Re: raspy voice

Latest on the voice. I have LPR - silent reflux - due to a deficient sphincter somewhere . Sister has similar but her larymx ain't affected - it is her oesphosagus. Been to see a speech therapsit who is brill. Gotta down loads of gavascon advanced and take tabs but she is gonna help me swallow properly and ease my throat and I have to go for some exercise n stuff. Husband seems pleaseed that I have to rest my voice at times and haven't to sing But it is interesting that sionce I have been hypo n had Hash I have had a very dry mouth n passages and do not get much mucus (dry colds - socially more acceptable) so this has exacerbated the throat/larynx situation. Also, I used to think the throat pain was my thyroid. Have to reconsider diat again - less citrus fruit. Some bad news -m no white wime - THE GOOD NEWS - RED IS OK!
    Have a brill weekend x

    Hiya Anni
that is interesting thanks for keeping us posted and telling us the result. I have heard of silent reflux before but I have normal GERD so never imagined how it worked.

    Re: raspy voice

hahahahaha men, eh? It is quite serious cos my voice is essential to my craft - teaching. Speech therapist is brill n has made links to my past n stress. Mine is LPR - silent reflux - affecting the voice. I still blame gastro stuff n slow metabolism n link it to auto immune stuff - colonic cancer can be caused by poor diet (my family lived on cxxp) and hereditary things cn slow perristalsis. Er, hypo slow! Feel battered now. Typically GP has underdosed tabs for LPR so have to pay fortune for alternative meds. Escaping soon to the Med. I am so tired and feel so foul. Take care. Hope have fab Goth Whitby weeken-d - I go often bto WHITBY but need to escape GB for a week x PS Hope hub is behaving x
