    Hi, I'm Tessa

    Hi, my name is tessa
I have not had a chance to look through everything on the board, so please go easy on me if I'm posting on the wrong message board or making some errors as I go along

I have a lot to say and ask, but for the time being and not to bombard everyone I will start off by asking if

    1. it is normal for TSH to drop to 0.3 then rise to 4.5 over a period of time taking no thyroid medications or other medications. I had the hyper and hypo symptoms to extreme. Iam wondering if to get a thyroid scan done.

My results seem to vary so much. Iam told 'Iam doing it to myself.' IAM NOT !

Glad to meet everybody and would love for your comments or responces please xxxxxxxx thumbup

Hi Tessa, to the board. Have you been diagnosed with Thyroid disease? I'm sorry I'm not sure about the TSH varying that much, I know it will vary depending on what you eat and on whether your well or not. as well as other factors.

If I were you, I would ask to be referred to a specialist to be on the safe side!

As for you bombarding the board......Bombard away!! Ask as many questions as you like, start as many threads as you need to start. we are here to help and advise as best we can!!

Keep us updates, and nice to hear from you

Hi Tessa, welcome to the forums

I don't think TSH should vary that much but like Ric said, it depends on your diet and level of exercise but still, I wouldnt have thought that it would go from 0.3 to 4.5 without a solid reason. Although, summer and winter results are different but still this is quite a jump. How long between these two numbers?

    Re: Hi, I'm Tessa

If the 0.3 and 4.5 are a few months apart, I would suspect Hashimoto's Disease. Sometimes early in the disease, there are periods of hyperthyroidism, particularly mild hyperthyroidism.
Have your antibody levels been drawn?

I have mild hyperthyroidism with my last three TSH readings being .56 (two and a half years ago), .2 (six weeks ago), and .1 (three weeks ago). We're still trying to figure out which disease I have, and one thing the doctor said is Hashimoto's. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease in which the thyroid is under attack by white blood cells, and sometimes this causes the damaged thyroid cells to release their hormones, at least that is how I understand it. Then sometimes there is a mild hyperthyroid period that lasts up to a few months, followed by hypothyroidism. At least, that is how I understand it. Probably it's more complicated.
