    Iodine antithyroid, what??

    Hiya
I had noted before that many on this forum took iodine, then I was reading the paper 'Psychosis Myxodema Madness revisited' http://www.psychiatrist.com/pcc/pccp...6/v05n0603.pdf
when this popped out at me.
''Amiodarone, an andtiarrhythmic agent, contains iodine and may, therefore, also lead to hypothroidism''
I thought it enhanced thyroid function to take iodine as it is contained also in Armour and the thyroid hormone is a form of iodine molecule?
Could someone please explain for me how this can be ( I have problems with iodine due to Hashimotos)
    thanks very much
    Dawnx
