    Started Armour Thyroid today

    Hi -

I saw Dr P yesterday who told me my adrenals are now strong enough to start taking the Armour. The purpose for my second visit ( this was after my initial visit of 4 months) was reassurance mainly. I have always been sensitive to medication and if I'm honest with you all - I'm a bit of a coward as far as taking meds is concerned. although I still have my sense of humour lol. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be listening in to bodily symptoms and blame it on the armour This is where your help comes in-- please, please support me through this during the initial few weeks --- I've been so sick for so long, and as I explained to Dr P, I dont want to deal with extra stress because I'm just too sensitive.

I am taking .5 of a grain an hour before breakfast and then I'm taking the NAZ and other vitamins 4 hours later because I've just read that you can't take vitmains with metals in them before then as it interacts with the Armour is this true?

I'm going to post this to one of the other forums too because I know this group has a little les traffic

Hope you're all having a great weekend. guys.

It seems like you are on the right path Did you have your adrenals tested as you said they are strong enough for Armour now?

0.5 Grain is good starting point but are you taking any thyroxine at the moment or is it the first time you are going to medicate yourself? I dont think you need to wait for anything with Armour as long as you putting it under your tongue as it straights away gets into your blood in this so no need to wait not to be able to eat/drink etc.

You may feel slightly different in the first few days as body will try to adjust it but sooner you'll feel better.
Keep us updated and good luck thumbup

    Hi Sid,

I went along to see Dr peatfield who took my pulse and blood pressure both sitting and standing. He seems to think my adrenals are stronger than they were ( they are not fully recovered yet) and to start taking the armour. I start at 0.5 of a grain - and I'm to take it for a week and increase to 1 grain for 2 to 3 weeks. I'm not taking any thyroxine-- this is the first time today I have taken any thyroid med.

You said I might feel slightly different in the next few days -- in what way?

I haven't done too bad today and I'm hopeful that the Armour will make me well again.

    Sid

HI AS, like sid said, your on the right track, keep us updated, and maybe a trial with dissolving the Armour under your tongue, its takes about half and hour, but you shouldn't really eat before then after meds anyways.. I noticed a huge improvement with dissolving. thumbup

    Hope your noticing improvements already

Ric - thought I'd go slow to gain some confidence -- I'm taking 0.25 of a grain -- will increase to 0.5 in a few days and split the dose ---

I'm not sure but I THINK I feel a bit better but not sure if that's a placebo effect... It's been only 3 days after all but I feel different!

thanks for holding my hand, Ric -- I appreciate it and by the way - your son is cute
