    TMJ as a symptom anyone??

    Hi,

I apparently have TMJ and grind my teeth very badly at night I have spoken to a few people who hav said they have this and they also have thyroid problems, just wondered if any one on here suffers from it and how they resolved it??

I ve been given a gum shield but my mouth is a mess from clenching an biting my gums, I suppose thats the anxiety whilst iam asleep from the thyroid problem..

Interesting that. I have just had two teeth break, separate occasions - one has been filled the other needs a crown 300! The dentisi asked if I grind my teeth... Anni

    Hi Anni,

Well I have read that hypot can cause it ive tried to take magnesium to see if that helps, but i didnt notice much other than it seemed to help my constipation.

Anni, my dentist refered me to the hospital and i am now under a maxiofacial specialist who has given me a mouth shield, it may be worth you getting a referal as it will save you money and your teeth if you had a gum shield..

They arent the most attactive devices but Iam signle so doent matter lol..i look like iam going boxing

My guess would be "Temporomandibular Joint Disorder"

    Yep, thats the one Sid..

It can put your jaw bone right out of line affecting the bite of your teeth which, causes headaches, clicking jaw, clicking and poping in your ears, grinding teeth which wears your teeth down it can be quite painful with headaches and stuff..

The main reason for it is anxiety and stress...so, I suppose it kinda makes sense it can be linked with thyroid!!

Ha ha I like the smile MM. After 30 years of being together I don't think he'd notice if I wore a tin hat!
I will have a think over that - thanks for the info. Hope you are good today. Anni
