    Bags under the eyes???

I've been looking everywhere but couldnt find a definite answer.

The bags under the eyes - what is the main reason apart from less sleep, age and stress? I know thyroid imbalance can cause these bags to appear but is it because of being hypo or hyper???

Is there a connection to adrenals by any chance?

Does anyone has personal experience with these and how do they manage?

    Re: Bags under the eyes???

Interesting question SiD and I too find little info online addressing this. I know that pre-diagnosis, I experienced mild manifestations of myxedema/edema (tissue swelling) and I would have one eyelid swell a bit or one lip. It's common with hypo patients and some experience it more in their arms and legs but the face is commonly affected too. I don't notice it now after several years treated but I do get dark circles under my eyes on occassion, especially with intake of too much caffiene or chocolate both of which I became greatly more sensitive to post-disease onset. I do feel low adrenal spells (adrenal fatigue) can cause bags & circles around the eyes, based on what other patients I've read have attested to.

An eyes, nose, throat specialist once told me that if one area of the head is affected then you can be sure so are other parts. So in essence it can be related. Try some raw potato peels and see if that helps them to go away.

    Re: Bags under the eyes???

It's not that I have bags under my eyes now but I have started to worry that they may come out at one stage. I've had flu and that made my eyes sink a bit more...that's where I started to worry.

How do the bags usually appear? Initially small in size and then increase later on or they just appear any size?
