    Re: Alcohol is valid?

I have heard from some hypo people that they don't get any effect from drinking alcohol. For some of them, even sedation do not work on them even during surgery. Don't know whether this has any scientific proof or not.

    Re: Alcohol is valid?

I recently read that drinking alcohol can lower the levels of thyroid hormone present in the body. So if you already suffer with hypothyroidism, drinking alcohol would only exacerbate the situation.

    Re: Alcohol is valid?

I think it may differ from person to person.

I don't drink at all so can't really say anything from my experience but what I've heard, people with underactive thyroid should be very careful in terms of what they consume.

On the other side, people with adrenal fatigue are extremely sensitive to even small amount of alcohol.

    Re: Alcohol is valid?

I've never been a frequent drinker since adulthood but in the past few years had occassion to drink an average of maybe twice a year. I have a sensitivity to it I didn't have before thyroid disease. After drinking I crash into fatigue and fluish like symptoms. I too read that alcohol lowers thyroid hormone in the body, so I suppose it's in the "goitrogen" catagory of things to avoid.
